I grew up in California, spending much of my life close to the ocean, the coast, and the mountains. My high school, Monterey Bay Academy, sat right by the Pacific, with a quiet beach that became part of my everyday life. I loved the ocean — the sound of the waves, the open air, the freedom of being outside.
But growing up around nature also taught me something important: the outdoors is beautiful, but it is never fully predictable. The same ocean that brings peace can also bring cold wind, heavy fog, rough waves, wet gear, and moments when you realize how much you depend on the things you bring with you.
That feeling stayed with me.
I studied Materials Engineering at UIUC, where I began to understand how materials can change the way a product performs in real life. Later, at Stanford’s School of Sustainability, my love for the outdoors became connected with a deeper respect for the environment and the natural world.
YOOSURE was created from that connection — love for the outdoors, respect for nature, and the belief that better materials and thoughtful design can help people feel safer outside.
Our products started with waterproof outdoor bags because water has always been part of my story. Through YOOSURE, I hope to build gear that helps people enjoy the outdoors with more confidence, while never forgetting to respect the power of nature.
